Softball Recap: Cass Has No Trouble Against Mccook

Cass had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the McCook Bison 10-0. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 12-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Zoey Powles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anslee Peters, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Preslee Kiss was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Cass always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McCook only posted an OBP of .333.

McCook's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Cass wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 4-1 loss against Wilber-Clatonia on the 23rd. As for McCook, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-3 defeat against St. Paul on the 23rd.
