Ceres hasn't had much luck against Central Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m.
Ceres managed to slip by Beyer the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bulldogs came up short against the Patriots on Thursday, falling 10-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, Central Valley waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Spartans a 15-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by exactly 15 runs.
Ezequiel Verduzco made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Noah Maldonado looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.
Back at the plate, Central Valley got a massive performance out of Mason Whitworth, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The Hawks are undefeated when Whitworth posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Adrian Vega, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Ceres' defeat dropped their record down to 12-8-1. As for Central Valley, their record is now 16-7.
Ceres might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Central Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
