The Sharpsville Blue Devils are taking a road trip to face off against the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Sharpsville will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Sharpsville's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Friday, when they got past Slippery Rock's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Blue Devils came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 12-7. With that win, the Blue Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
KAYDEN WYGANT made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. WYGANT was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JARED BISSELL, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Sharpsville is undefeated when BISSELL posts two or more stolen bases, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was DOMINIC TARNOCI, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Sharpsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Mercyhurst Prep entered their tilt with Fairview on Thursday with 14 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 15. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Tigers.
Hunter Krahe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Zack Kruszewski was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2025.
Sharpsville now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Mercyhurst Prep, their record is now 16-2.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sharpsville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Mercyhurst Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .510. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
