Menominee is 0-10 against Marquette since April of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Maroons will face off against the Redmen at 4:00 p.m.
Oconto Falls hit Menominee with a four-run sixth inning last Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Maroons took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.
Meanwhile, Marquette posted their closest win since May 27, 2025 on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Superior Central, sneaking past 11-9. The victory continues a trend for the Redmen in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.
Desmond Gleason was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gleason was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Marquette: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Jonas Snapp looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Easton Jezewski, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Marquette's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-11 when he doesn't). Wes Robinson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Marquette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Superior Central only posted an OBP of .357.
Menominee's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Marquette, their record now sits at 6-11.
Menominee came up short against Marquette when the teams last played back in April, falling 11-7. Can the Maroons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
