Basketball Recap: Pacheco Sets Scoring Season-High Against Johansen

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pacheco). They blew past the Johansen Vikings 60-33 on Thursday. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 40-34 loss the last time these two teams met.

Pacheco was led to victory by Mary Tava and Ashley Jimenez. Tava posted 15 points in addition to six boards and four steals, while Jimenez almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten steals. Jimenez is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Sasha Siemiller, who put up eight points and five steals.

Pacheco was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Johansen only posted two assists.

When it comes to explaining why Johansen lost, don't look at Isis Bankston. Despite the final result, she had eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joy Ige, who earned seven points along with nine rebounds and six steals.

The victory was the third in a row for Pacheco, bringing their record for this year to 12-5. As for Johansen, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Pacheco didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-50 win against Ceres on the 14th. Johansen has also already played their next contest, a 50-47 defeat against Lathrop on the 14th.
