The Camden County Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Sandalwood Saints at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Camden County came up short against Effingham County and fell 8-3.
Isaiah Cox was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, Gavyn Nelson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Will Johnson was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Sandalwood posted their biggest win since April 15, 2024 on Monday. Everything went their way against Ribault as Sandalwood made off with a 10-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saints.
Bryce Foster looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Detlefsen, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Tobias Coughman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
The win got Sandalwood back to even at 2-2. As for Camden County, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 2-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Camden County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sandalwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Camden County skirted past Sandalwood 5-4 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Camden County since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
