The Grace Lancers will venture away from home to take on the Oxnard Yellowjackets at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Grace is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Fillmore 21-1 on Monday. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Flashes recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Dylan Ferguson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ferguson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.3 runs per game.

In other pitching news, Grace got a great performance from Rudy Gargiulo as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave Gargiulo a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Alex Van, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Jake Barrett also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Grace always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Oxnard got the win against Seabury on Saturday by a conclusive 16-4. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Yellowjackets' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Mitchel Tarazon made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Tarazon was also big at the plate, scoring three runs.
In other pitching news, Diego Garcia looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.
Back at the plate, Jerry Gonzales was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Aldrian Higgs was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
The victory got Oxnard back to even at 2-2. As for Grace, their record now sits at 3-0-1.
Grace came up short against Oxnard in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 3-0. Can Grace avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
