It was a good run, but the Orleans Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 62-36 loss at the hands of Lanesville. Orleans has not had much luck with Lanesville recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Orleans saw an underclassman step up: Callie Alston scored nine points along with three steals. Alston hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cambree Cline, who scored 12 points.
Orleans struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lanesville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hadley Crosier, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Crosier is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shelby Allen, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Orleans' loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-2. As for Lanesville, they pushed their record up to 20-1 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orleans will face off against Crawford County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Crawford County is ranked 79th, while Orleans is ranked 54th). As for Lanesville, they will head out on the road to face off against Perry Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
