The Centauri Falcons suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Pagosa Springs by a score of 39-37. While losing is never fun, Centauri can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Pagosa Springs is ranked 18th).
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaleb Anderson, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Haslett, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Blake Laner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pagosa Springs, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. Laner hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Colt Lewis, who scored ten points.
Centauri's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Pagosa Springs, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Centauri will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Bayfield at 4:00 p.m. Bayfield is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Pagosa Springs, they will head out on the road to take on Ignacio at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
