AJ Baggett was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Carson Frome looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Daniel Cranick was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooks Carroll, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while it was Jasper who put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, it was South Spencer who put up more. The Wildcats fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 4-2. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Evansville North's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Jasper, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-10.
Everything went Evansville North's way against Jasper in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Evansville North made off with a 6-0 victory. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
