Isaiah Walker made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Jackson Ehrlich tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Coco Vonderhaar, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Carter Bader, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Mitty never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past Christopher 11-0.
Christopher's batters probably weren't too happy with Joseph Engin, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (he gave up two walks).
On the hitting side, Andre Lopez-Monsivais was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Waylon Walsh was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Archbishop Mitty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christopher only posted an OBP of .118.
Archbishop Mitty now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Palo Alto, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Palo Alto beat Archbishop Mitty 7-4 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Palo Alto since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
