The Etiwanda Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Los Osos Grizzlies at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Etiwanda 3.4, Los Osos 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
While Etiwanda's victory against Upland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Highlanders/Scots on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Highlanders/Scots: they've now won four in a row.
Jaxson Milius looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, Jaeden Toki was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Derick Kim, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Los Osos waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Spartans. That's two games straight that the Grizzlies have won by exactly five runs.
Gavin Loeb-Keene looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Los Osos let Justin Yeutter and Hunter Meyer run wild. Yeutter went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Meyer went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Roberto Topete was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Los Osos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Damien only posted an OBP of .286.
Los Osos pushed their record up to 18-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Etiwanda, they now have a winning record of 12-11-1.
Etiwanda came out on top in a nail-biter against Los Osos in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
