If the Malibu Sharks were feeling good off their 54-9 takedown of the Inglewood Sentinels last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Malibu fell 47-38 to Carpinteria on Wednesday. Malibu was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Carpinteria apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.
When it comes to explaining why Malibu lost, one person who can't be blamed is Casey Ovsiowitz. Despite the final result, she scored 27 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Ovsiowitz scored a full 71.1% of Malibu's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Malibu has yet to win a game at home this season, leaving them with a 4-2 record. As for Carpinteria, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Malibu will head out on the road to face off against Hueneme at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Carpinteria, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nordhoff at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nordhoff comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
