Loyalton is 1-9 against the Tigers since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Loyalton Grizzlies will be playing at home against the Portola Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Loyalton will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
Loyalton put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past Princeton, posting a 55-21 victory at home. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to 9 on the offensive boards, as Loyalton did.
Loyalton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophie Holland led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Holland is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Catherine Petterson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Portola got the win against the Volcanoes on Tuesday by a conclusive 53-33. The win was just what Portola needed coming off of a 55-19 defeat in their prior matchup.
Loyalton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Portola, their victory bumped their record up to 12-13.
