The Newbury Park Panthers were the 40-27 winner over the Thousand Oaks Lancers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Newbury Park was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 49-48 to Thousand Oaks. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Newbury Park came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Thousand Oaks is ranked 470th).
Despite the loss, Newbury Park still got an impressive performance from Kierabella Coletta-Todd, who scored 17 points along with four steals and two blocks. Coletta-Todd hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Skylar Komatsu was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Newbury Park and nudges their season record down to 20-3. As for Thousand Oaks, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-12 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newbury Park will face off against Oaks Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Thousand Oaks, they will head out on the road to square off against Calabasas at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
