Century is 0-10 against Anaheim since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Century Centurions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Anaheim Colonists at 4:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Century has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Anaheim will arrive with six straight wins.
Century suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Santa Ana Valley on the road and fell 55-1. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Century has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Anaheim can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Magnolia as Anaheim made off with a 70-50 win. Given Anaheim's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Magnolia is ranked 547th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Anaheim's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Giselle Zambrano, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Zambrano has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aleah McGregor, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Century's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.0 points per game. As for Anaheim, their victory bumped their record up to 20-1.
Century was dealt a bruising 107-32 defeat at the hands of Anaheim when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Century avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
