The Southmoreland Scotties can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Laurel Highlands and snuck past 55-52. The win was just what Southmoreland needed coming off of a 78-56 defeat in their prior contest.
Southmoreland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Felentzer out in front who scored 19 points. Felentzer is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Keffer, who scored 15 points.
When it comes to explaining why Laurel Highlands lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Koffler. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. Shane Layton was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Southmoreland's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Laurel Highlands, they dropped their record down to 2-19 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Southmoreland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Laurel Highlands, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Uniontown at 7:30 p.m. Uniontown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Laurel Highlands likes a good challenge.
