Basketball Recap: Concord Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Lamiyah Washington and A'mariah Iglesias

Concord was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They fell 49-40 to the Kennedy Titans. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 45-44 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Concord's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of A'Mariah Iglesias, who went 6 of 12 en route to 21 points and four steals, and Lamiyah Washington, who posted 16 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. The matchup was Washington's third in a row with at least ten points.

Kennedy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chloe Buchner, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Buchner has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Siquig, who scored nine points in addition to eight boards and seven steals.

Concord's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Kennedy, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Concord wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-38 defeat against San Leandro on the 3rd. Kennedy has also already played their next contest, a 49-36 win against Newark Memorial on the 5th.
