After a string of three wins, The Rochester Zebras''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Lafayette Central Catholic 28-22. Rochester lost against Lafayette Central Catholic in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 24-8 score last time.
Rochester's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Deming, who rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Deming hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Brant Beck, who rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Lafayette Central Catholic was led to victory by Ray Clayton and Bobby Metzger. Clayton picked up 181 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Metzger threw for 295 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.8 yards per attempt. Clayton's longest reception was for an incredible 81 yards.
Rochester's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, their victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-3.
Rochester does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lafayette Central Catholic will head out on the road to face off against Seeger at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
