Dylan Brown made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, American Canyon let Matias Garcia and Royce Hall run wild. Garcia went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Hall went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Garcia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andre Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
American Canyon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Petaluma came out on top against Sonoma Valley on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Dragons. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Rowan Ball, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Quinn Gaidmore was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Petaluma has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for American Canyon, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-13.
American Canyon might still be hurting after the 18-1 defeat they got from Petaluma when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
