Christ's Church Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Jativa out in front who went 8 for 20 on his way to 27 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Jativa a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Olson, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds.
Christ's Church Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Englewood lost to Sandalwood on the road by a 47-33 margin on Friday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Christ's Church Academy will have to contain Vincent Witherspoon as he made an impact in Englewood's last game. He went 5 of 8 en route to 15 points. Witherspoon has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Thomas Mitchell, who posted six points.
Christ's Church Academy pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28 points. As for Englewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Christ's Church Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Englewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
