Soccer Game Preview: Notre Dame vs. Highland

Notre Dame has gone 6-1 against Highland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Nikes will venture away from home to take on the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. Notre Dame knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with four goals or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Highland likes a good challenge.

Nine must be Notre Dame's lucky number: they beat Winfield-Mt. Union with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Nikes blew past Wolves 9-1. That's two games straight that Notre Dame have won by exactly eight goals.

Meanwhile, after soaring to six goals the game before, Highland was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They lost 3-0 to Central Lee. Highland have struggled against Central Lee recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Notre Dame pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those three matchups. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.

Everything went Notre Dame's way against Highland in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Notre Dame made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Nikes since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
