The Southmoreland Scotties pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 83-63 walloping at the hands of Elizabeth Forward. Southmoreland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Southmoreland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ty Keffer, who scored 16 points. Noah Felentzer was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Southmoreland and nudges their season record down to 14-5. As for Elizabeth Forward, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.
Southmoreland will head out on the road to face off against the Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Uniontown presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Scotties in Pennsylvania (the Red Raiders are ranked 38th, while the Scotties are ranked 193rd). As for Elizabeth Forward, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Colonials at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Albert Gallatin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully the Warriors like a good challenge.
