The 2023 high school football season in Ohio kicks off later this month and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. Two-time defending Division I state champion
St. Edward (Lakewood) owns the No. 1 spot in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 25.
Under head coach Tom Lombardo, St. Edward is looking to build on its recent run of dominance in the state. The Eagles have won six titles since 2010, including back-to-back Division I crowns in 2021 and 2022 with a record of 30-2 during that two-year span.
St. Edward begins the season ranked No. 16 nationally by MaxPreps.
In addition to St. Edward, other defending state champions include
Central Catholic (Toledo) in Division II,
Canfield in Division III,
Glenville (Cleveland) in Division IV,
South Range (Canfield) in Division V,
Marion Local (Maria Stein) in Division VI and
New Bremen in Division VII.
