Woodward has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Taft Senators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, Woodward was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to Withrow. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Woodward came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Withrow is ranked 366th).
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Taft's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 79-73 hit to the loss column at the hands of Aiken. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (69), Taft still had to take the loss.
Woodward has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Taft, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
Woodward and Taft were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but Woodward came up empty-handed after a 66-65 defeat. Can Woodward avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
