The Paso Robles Bearcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Credo Gryphon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Credo will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Paso Robles extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Bearcats' pitcher stepped up to hand Nipomo a 10-0 shutout. The game marked the Bearcats' most dominant win of the season.
The result came thanks to Nate Contreras's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Paso Robles is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Emmett Dobroth was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Talen Freitas was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Paso Robles hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Credo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Technology on Friday. The Gryphon might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by ten runs or more this season.
Zach McKenna made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. McKenna was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Henry Humphreys, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Tommy Simmons, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Paso Robles' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Credo, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Paso Robles has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Credo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
