First Flight is a perfect 10-0 against Hertford County since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Nighthawks will square off against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (First Flight has three straight victories, Hertford County has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, First Flight beat Perquimans 6-2.

Jordan Kempton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of First Flight's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Kempton was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
Kempton wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dillon Francis, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Hertford County came up short against First Flight on Tuesday, falling 13-3.
Kellen Whitby was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
First Flight pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hertford County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
Hertford County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: First Flight has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .476. It's a different story for Hertford County, though, as they've only averaged .331. Will they be able to contain First Flight's hitters?
Everything went First Flight's way against Hertford County in their previous meeting on Tuesday, as First Flight made off with a 13-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Nighthawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
