The Knox Redskins will head out on the road to challenge the Pioneer Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Knox focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday.
Knox pushed their score all the way to 56, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Twin Lakes. While losing is never fun, Knox can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Indians are ranked 159th).
Despite the defeat, Knox had strong showings from Rowen Jordan, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds, and Myles Mclaughlin, who scored 17 points along with four steals. Mclaughlin is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nolan Short, who scored four points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Pioneer escaped with a win on Thursday against the Bluejays by the margin of a single free throw, 50-49.
Knox's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Pioneer, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11.
Knox strolled past the Panthers in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 55-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Knox since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
