Fulton has gone 8-2 against Northridge Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 2:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Fulton gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Valley Oaks CES 16-6. Considering the Jaguars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northridge Academy). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Panorama a 16-0 shutout last Friday. With that win, the Pumas brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Jesse Caballero made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northridge Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise. Caballero was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Oscar Zamora Hernandez and Aaron Hernandez did most of the damage at the plate: Zamora Hernandez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Hernandez went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Zamora Hernandez has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Anthony Gonzalez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Northridge Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
The victory made it two in a row for Northridge Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Fulton, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7.
Fulton took their win against Northridge Academy in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
