After flying high against the Tyler Classical Academy Eagles last Friday, the Leverett's Chapel Lions came back down to earth. Leverett's Chapel ended up on the wrong side of a tough 73-50 walloping at the hands of Avery on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Leverett's Chapel has suffered since November 30, 2023.
Despite the loss, Leverett's Chapel still got an impressive performance from Jaggar Ward, who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ward has scored all season. DeMarion Brown was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Leverett's Chapel's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Avery, the win got them back to even at 14-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leverett's Chapel will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tyler Classical Academy at 6:30 p.m. on February 1st. As for Avery, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Avinger at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Avinger is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
