Softball Recap: Gothenburg Has No Trouble Against Lexington

Gothenburg's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Lexington Minutemen. The Swedes haven't had any issues with the Minutemen recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Gothenburg let Madilyn McNally and Briony Aden run wild. McNally went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Aden went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those four hits gave Aden a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Winney, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Gothenburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive games.

Gothenburg's record is now 4-5. As for Lexington, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Gothenburg will head out to challenge Bayard at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lexington, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Ord at 12:00 p.m.
