Banning is 7-2 against the Lions since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Banning Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Cathedral City Lions at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After soaring to a 52-point victory in their last game, Banning came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Coachella Valley by a score of 39-37. Banning has not had much luck with the Mighty Arabs recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Symora Prince, who scored 16 points along with two steals. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Maryanne Palacios was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Cathedral City's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their tenth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Yucca Valley at home and fell 61-8. Cathedral City was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.
Banning's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-14. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only two points. As for Cathedral City, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Banning against the Lions in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 57-16 win. With Banning ahead 33-4 at the half, the match was all but over already.
