Basketball Recap: St. Bonaventure Piles Up the Points Against Thacher

St. Bonaventure won the last time they faced Thacher and things went their way on Thursday too. The St. Bonaventure Seraphs took their matchup with ease, bagging a 78-22 victory over the Thacher Toads. The Seraphs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 34 points or more this season.

St. Bonaventure's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sarah Cosio, who went 9 of 15 on her way to 21 points along with eight assists and six steals. Cosio is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 18 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Rico, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards.

The victory (which was St. Bonaventure's third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Thacher, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Bonaventure won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Newbury Park at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Newbury Park will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something St. Bonaventure surely won't give up without a fight. As for Thacher, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Foothill Tech at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
