The St. Joseph Spartans had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.6 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Monday. They really took it to Deer Lakes for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-22 win on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-7.
Gia Richter was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Julie Spinelli, who scored 15 points.
St. Joseph pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 44.67 points. As for Deer Lakes, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
St. Joseph will be playing at home against Taylor Allderdice at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Taylor Allderdice is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Deer Lakes, they will head out on the road to challenge Ligonier Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ligonier Valley is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
