The Osseo-Fairchild Thunder are taking a road trip to face off against the Independence/Gilmanton Indees at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Osseo-Fairchild is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Osseo-Fairchild lost 3-0 to Melrose-Mindoro on Tuesday.
Osseo-Fairchild was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-17, 25-22.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Independence/Gilmanton sidestepped Alma Center Lincoln for a 3-2 win. The Indees haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (103-100) Independence/Gilmanton actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-23, 24-26, 11-25, 15-9.
Independence/Gilmanton's win came from a few key players Osseo-Fairchild will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Danika Ekern, who had 19 digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Yuritza Bautista, who had 15 digs.
Independence/Gilmanton was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since the start of last season.
Independence/Gilmanton's record is now 4-9. As for Osseo-Fairchild, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
Osseo-Fairchild suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Independence/Gilmanton when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Thunder avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
