Baseball Game Preview: Lodi Flames vs. Lincoln Trojans

For the second straight game, Lodi will face off against Lincoln. Lodi is taking a road trip to take on Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Lodi's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Lincoln's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lodi took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over Lincoln.

Landon Beasley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lodi saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylan Takahashi, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Takahashi has become a key player for Lodi: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-3 otherwise. Chase Whiting also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Lodi's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Lincoln, they dropped their record down to 5-6 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lodi has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
