High school volleyball national assist leaders: Sophee Peterson of No. 1 Byron Nelson among leading setters

According to statistics submitted to MaxPreps, Logan Sanders of Canyon (New Braunfels, Texas) is high school volleyball's national leader in assists.

The junior is 10 assists short of 1,000 on the season for the Cougars. Canyon (22-12) has five hitters with more than 140 kills, including senior Marlee Lightsey with 403.

Texas A&M commit Sophee Peterson of No. 1 Byron Nelson (Trophy Club, Texas) is 10th on the list with 823 assists. The MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year in 2024 continues to be a key component for a program that has won 63 matches in a row and is looking for a repeat state title. She recently passed 3,000 assists for her career and is nearing 500 kills as well.

Rounding out the top five are Landry Zapalac of Schulenburg (Schulenburg, Texas), Mary George Vandergriff of Guntersville (Ala.) and Chloe Coker of Athens (Texas).
