Yuba City and River Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Yuba City Honkers will head out on the road to face off against the River Valley Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Yuba City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Yuba City was fully in charge, breezing past Bella Vista 48-21 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Yuba City.
Josie Carrick went supernova for Yuba City, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds. Carrick continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Mia Beltran was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, River Valley suffered a rough 71-47 loss at the hands of Woodcreek on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, River Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 581st, while Woodcreek is ranked 239th).
Yuba City's victory bumped their record up to 11-15. As for River Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record this season.
Yuba City beat River Valley 46-34 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Yuba City since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
