The Pacheco Panthers will face off against the Stagg Delta Kings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Pacheco comes in on four and Stagg on six.
Pacheco came out on top against Torres on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Toros. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
The team relied heavily on Jacob Sanchez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Xander Razo, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stagg). They put the hurt on Johansen with a sharp 21-4 victory on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Rocco Rodriguez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Macieo Johnson-Ortiz was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Rafe Freeman, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Stagg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Pacheco's record now sits at 4-1. As for Stagg, their record is now 7-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pacheco has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Stagg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Pacheco might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Stagg in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
