The Burlingame Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Sequoia Ravens at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Burlingame was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Saint Mary's on Saturday. Burlingame put the hurt on Saint Mary's with a sharp 8-0 victory. Burlingame not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since February 24th (when they won 11-0).
Burlingame gave Bryce Cone the start and clearly made the right call: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 5.2 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Mark O'Grady was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Aidan Berryman was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.
Sequoia came out on top against Monte Vista Christian on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Ravens sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Mustangs. The Ravens haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Morgan Winfield, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Burlingame's record is now 9-6. As for Sequoia, their record now sits at 11-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Burlingame has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sequoia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Burlingame came out on top in a nail-biter against Sequoia when the teams last played back in March of 2025, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Ravens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
