Even though the Pine Grove Panthers scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, the Ashland Blue Devils still came out on top. Ashland skirted past Pine Grove 60-58. For Ashland, this counts as revenge for the 49-31 loss Pine Grove walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2016.
Ashland can attribute much of their success to Morgan Crutcher, who scored 22 points. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Ashland's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Pine Grove, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashland and Walnut will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Walnut presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ashland in Mississippi (Walnut is ranked 80th, while Ashland is ranked 222nd). Pine Grove will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Alcorn Central at 4:30 p.m. on December 27th.
