Basketball Recap: Panorama Comes Up Short

Panorama was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Sylmar Spartans 84-36. The Pythons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-23.

Panorama's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was VALERY QUEZADA, who posted 19 points. The match was QUEZADA's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was YESSENIA QUEZADA, who scored 12 points.

Sylmar was led to victory by Isabella Gonzalez and Yaneli Zuniga-Hernandez. Gonzalez went 18 for 36 en route to 48 points and five steals, while Zuniga-Hernandez went 13 of 24 on her way to 33 points along with eight assists and six boards. Gonzalez has become a key player for Sylmar: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least 20 points, but 1-8 otherwise.

Panorama's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Sylmar, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Panorama will take on Reseda at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sylmar, they will face off against Van Nuys at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
