They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 8-1 walloping at the hands of the El Modena Vanguards. Foothill has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Foothill got a good showing from Andrew Phillips, who tossed an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Phillips has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single run in three consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Foothill saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Mueller, who went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run.
On El Modena's side, Lukus Alvarado was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Honikel, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Foothill's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for El Modena, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Foothill will be playing at home against Reed at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Reed will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Foothill surely won't give up without a fight. As for El Modena, they will face off against El Toro at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
