The Stockdale Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Clovis Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Stockdale is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Stockdale's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Tehachapi with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Gabriel Borja made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cooper Eberly was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Alexander Blain also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Stockdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Clovis got the win against Oakdale on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-0. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.
Logan Georges tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Clovis got a massive performance out of Maddox Merrill, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Brown, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Stockdale's record now sits at 7-1-1. As for Clovis, their record is now 6-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Stockdale has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Clovis struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Stockdale might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Clovis when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
