Carlsbad and Rancho Bernardo are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Lancers will face off against the Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Carlsbad put up the most runs they have all season on Friday. They blew past San Marcos 12-5. The game was the first time the Lancers have beaten the Knights on their field since May 2, 2023.

Hunter Dawson looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jett Kenady was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Trent Kellas also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Carlsbad was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Marcos only posted a batting average of .138.
Meanwhile, Rancho Bernardo waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Falcons. The Broncos not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 13-4).
NATHAN LING looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Rancho Bernardo got a massive performance out of Brady Strachan, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Strachan is becoming a predictor of the Broncos' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 10-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Owen Glick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Rancho Bernardo pushed their record up to 15-11 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Carlsbad, their record is now 16-10.
Carlsbad might still be hurting after the 13-4 loss they got from Rancho Bernardo when the teams last played back in April. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
