While losing is never fun, Clairton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Greensburg Central Catholic is ranked 80th).
When it comes to explaining why Clairton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Iyanna Wade. Despite the final result, she scored 31 points. That was a full 51.7% of Clairton's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was K Fuqua, who scored 12 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Clairton and nudges their season record down to 9-2. As for Greensburg Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Clairton will square off against Frazier at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Frazier is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Greensburg Central Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Springdale at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th.
