Softball Recap: Wahlert Beats Independence for Their Third Straight Win

Wahlert waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Independence Mustangs, sneaking past 8-6. For the Golden Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 4-2 victory the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in June of 2019.

Wahlert's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Independence, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

Wahlert didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-3 win against North Linn on the 20th. As for Independence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-1 victory against MFL MarMac on the 20th.
