Basketball Recap: Alisal Skates Past St. Francis with Ease

Alisal won the last time they faced St. Francis and things went their way on Friday too. The Alisal Trojans breezed by the St. Francis Sharks to the tune of 65-38. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 24 points or more this season.

Alisal was led to victory by Nayeli Gil-Silva and Mia Rivera. Gil-Silva almost dropped a double-double on 33 points and nine boards, while Rivera dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Gil-Silva is now averaging an impressive 16.9 points per game. Alyssa Annis was another key player, putting up three points and five assists.

Alisal was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Francis only posted five assists.

St. Francis' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Maya Calfee, who posted 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Nat Stott, who put up 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Liliana Whitmeyer, who posted eight points and four steals.

Alisal's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for St. Francis, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-1.

Alisal didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-22 win against Soledad on the 28th. As for St. Francis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 43-30 victory against Monte Vista Christian on the 28th.
