Pomona is 1-9 against Garey since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Pomona Red Devils will stay at home for another game and welcome the Garey Vikings at 4:45 p.m. on January 22nd. Pomona will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1133rd, while Garey is ranked 537th).
Last Wednesday, Pomona ended up a good deal behind Edgewood and lost 60-42.
Meanwhile, Garey put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Bassett 71-6 on the road. The win was familiar territory for Garey who now have seven in a row.
Alyssa Herrera and Armani Owens were among the main playmakers for Garey as the former scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. Owens is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah (AJ) Jones, who scored six points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Pomona's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Garey, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
