The Lompoc Braves lost against the Santa Barbara Dons back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The game between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Lompoc falling 50-35. They have struggled against Santa Barbara recently, as their match on Thursday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Lompoc lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ava Gallegos. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with 4 steals. Gallegos scored a full 34.3% of Lompoc's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mia Jansen, who scored 8 points.
Lompoc's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Santa Barbara, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Lompoc will look to defend their home court on Friday against Golden Valley at 4:30 p.m. Santa Barbara won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Orcutt Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Orcutt Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
